Protected product
The protection granted by the “Galician Potato” PGI is applied to potatoes of the Kennebec variety, cultivated using traditional methods to ensure achieving optimum quality.
Potatoes protected by the PGI are sold in packaging that is new, clean and made out of materials designed to ensure correct ventilation and transportation of the product. One third of the front of these packages, weighing 15, 10, 5, 4, 3 and 2.5 kg., features the logotype of the PGV and the commercial label, together with a numbered label issued by the Regulatory Board. 25 kg. bags are also authorized for hostelry use.

Characteristics
Potatoes produced under the auspices of the PGI are rounded or oval, with ‘eyes’ on the surface and smooth, fine skins that are light yellow in colour. Their interior is white and creamy, and of even texture when boiled.
Their quality for consumption is excellent, especially for their content in dry material (higher than 18%), and for maintaining their colour, aroma and flavour even after being cooked.
